Mandatory requirements: Candidates must: 

• hold a bachelor's degree in Engineering, namely in computer science and informatics, bioengineering, or related areas, obtained in the three years prior to the date of submission of the application. 

• Applicants must be enrolled in a master's program or in a non-degree course that is part of an educational project offered by a Higher Education Institution. Proof of enrollment must be submitted no later than the scholarship contracting phase and may, up until that point, be temporarily substituted with a declaration of honor. 

• not exceed, with the conclusion of this scholarship contract, the maximum duration of two years, when The scholarship has been awarded to a student enrolled in a master's degree. 

• be informed that the grant aims to start their scientific training through integration into projects of R&D to be developed in national institutions. (BII) 

• submit the documents proving this situation, at the latest, until the contracting phase of the purse, which may be replaced by a declaration of honour, which is attached. 

Preferred factors: Have knowledge in Python; interest in the field of Data Science; preference to candidates with experience in data analysis.

Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The amount of the fellowship corresponds to € 1.040,98 having as reference the table of values of the fellowship awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in Portugal, with payment made monthly by bank transfer.

Selection criteria: The selection methods to be used and the respective weighting will be as follows: 1st phase 

a. Curricular evaluation, including training associated with the scientific domains of the fellowship (e.g. Data Science, Information Visualization) - 40%; 

b. Previous experience in research and development, namely in data analysis - 25%. 

c. Previous professional experience, namely in data analysis - 25%. 

d. Programming skills with a focus on Python - 10%. 

All applications will be evaluated on a scale of 0 to 20 values. 

Grade 1st phase=40%×A+25%×B+25%×C+10%×D 

2nd phase 

In the event of a tie, the candidates with the best classification, higher than 14 points, will move on to the interview phase selection and the selection methods to be as follows: 

a. Curriculum evaluation - 35%; 

b. Experience in the research area - 35%. 

c. Interview - 30% Final grade=35%×A+35%×B+30%xC 

Candidates who do not obtain a minimum grade of 14 points, as a result of the jury's evaluation accordingly with the selection criteria, will not be hired

Composition of the Selection Jury: President: Professor Rafael Costa Effective members: Professor Rui Oliveira and Professor Rui Henriques Substitute members: Doctor José Pinto.

Form of advertising/notification of results: The evaluation results proposed by the juri will be notified, up to 90 days after the deadline for the submission of applications, by email, of the results proposed by the jury, with access to the minutes and the final ranking list. After notification, candidates will have 10 working days to comment on the draft decision (prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure). The final decision will be taken after the expiry of the prior hearing period, again notified to all candidates by e-mail. Of this final decision the candidates can file a complaint within 15 working days (to the e-mail address used for the notification), or an hierarchical appeal, within 30 working days, addressed to NOVA.ID.FCT's Board through the address coord1@novaidfct.pt.
