Offer Description

Work Plan: Within the scope of the project, the scholarship holder must collaborate and contribute with the following tasks: pre-process physical activity data from the "Mais e Melhore Anos" program; to compare and extend models for predicting frailty in the elderly and negative outcomes related to frailty (falls, fractures, hospitalization, and mortality); develop and apply machine learning algorithms, with the aim of anticipating the risk of frailty and predicting other outcomes of interest; develop a computational application that allows the treatment, analysis and visualization of the data collected; and to help in the dissemination of the results obtained in national/international scientific events; participation in work meetings and writing scientific articles related to the project. This project will be developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Sport of the University of Porto and the Municipality of Famalicão who provide the data collected.

Fellowship duration: The fellowship will last for will last for 6 months, starting in May 2025. The scholarship contract may eventually be renewed within the term of the project.

Application deadline and form of application submission: The call is open from the 02/05/2025 to 15/05/2025.

Documentation to be provided at the time of application: Applications must be formalized by sending the following documents: 

i) Letter of motivation; 

ii) Detailed Curriculum Vitae; 

iii) Documents proving the academic degrees obtained and their classification* (in the application phase may be replaced by a declaration of honour as stated in point no. 2). 

iv) Declaration of honour attesting to the commitment to enroll in a master's degree or in a non-degree course integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution, if selected for the award of a scholarship and accepts the award of the same and other supporting documents considered relevant for the evaluation of the experience.

Note 1: For academic degrees conferred by a foreign higher education institution, it is mandatory to present the record of recognition of the academic degree and the conversion of the final classification to the Portuguese scale (process regulated by Decree-Law No. 341/2007, of 12 October), or alternatively, to obtain equivalence/recognition of academic degrees (process regulated by Decree-Law No. 283/83). of June 21). 

Note 2: In the case of candidates enrolled in a non-degree course, the scholarship may have a maximum duration of one year.

Documentation to be provided upon contracting: Proof of academic degrees or their equivalence when they have been awarded by foreign higher education institutions; proof of enrollment in a Master or in a non-degree course integrated in an educational project of a Higher Education Institution.

Benefits

Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The amount of the fellowship corresponds to € 1.040,98 having as reference the table of values of the fellowship awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in Portugal, with payment made monthly by bank transfer.

Selection process

Selection criteria: The selection methods to be used and the respective weighting will be as follows: 1st phase 

a. Curricular evaluation, including training associated with the scientific domains of the fellowship (e.g. Data Science, Information Visualization) - 40%; 

b. Previous experience in research and development, namely in data analysis - 25%. 

c. Previous professional experience, namely in data analysis - 25%. 

d. Programming skills with a focus on Python - 10%. 

All applications will be evaluated on a scale of 0 to 20 values. 

Grade 1st phase=40%×A+25%×B+25%×C+10%×D 

2nd phase 

In the event of a tie, the candidates with the best classification, higher than 14 points, will move on to the interview phase selection and the selection methods to be as follows: 

a. Curriculum evaluation - 35%; 

b. Experience in the research area - 35%. 

c. Interview - 30% Final grade=35%×A+35%×B+30%xC 

Candidates who do not obtain a minimum grade of 14 points, as a result of the jury's evaluation accordingly with the selection criteria, will not be hired

Additional comments

Composition of the Selection Jury: President: Professor Rafael Costa Effective members: Professor Rui Oliveira and Professor Rui Henriques Substitute members: Doctor José Pinto.

Form of advertising/notification of results: The evaluation results proposed by the juri will be notified, up to 90 days after the deadline for the submission of applications, by email, of the results proposed by the jury, with access to the minutes and the final ranking list. After notification, candidates will have 10 working days to comment on the draft decision (prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure). The final decision will be taken after the expiry of the prior hearing period, again notified to all candidates by e-mail. Of this final decision the candidates can file a complaint within 15 working days (to the e-mail address used for the notification), or an hierarchical appeal, within 30 working days, addressed to NOVA.ID.FCT's Board through the address coord1@novaidfct.pt.
