Offer Description
Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Engineer within UCD School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
As part of a larger programme by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) aiming to exploit mixed-signal integrated-circuits (IC) electronics for emerging applications, this project aims to investigate time-domain IC design approaches to promote new bleeding-edge circuit, architecture and system level innovations in the application area of neural networks (NN), including those run at cryogenic temperatures and being quantum assisted.
The successful candidate will help with hiring and then leading an interdisciplinary team of CMOS circuit designers. He/she will also contribute to the daily supervision of PhD and postgrad students, and also will be involved in collaboration with industry partners.
In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project:
* Support the Principal Investigator and the research group in the innovative development of bleeding-edge, high-performance, mixed-signal circuits and systems.
* Carry out research in mixed-signal circuits and architectures for NN.
* Carry out research in time-domain signal processing and data converters based on it, such as VCO-based ADCs, time-to-digital (TDC), voltage-to-time (VTC), digital-to-time (DTC), clocking.
Investigate the above NN and data converter circuitry at cryogenic temperatures and with quantum assistance.
Fixed salary: €64,000 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Closing date: 17:00hrs (local Irish time) on 22nd May 2023.
Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. Any applications which are still in progress at the closing time of 17:00hrs (Local Irish Time) on the specified closing date will be cancelled automatically by the system. UCD are unable to accept late applications.
