Professor María Teresa Ruiz Cantero, from The Gender Studies Research Centre (Instituto de Investigación de Estudios de Género-IUIEG) of University of Alicante, welcomes postdoctoral candidates interested in applying for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships (MSCA-IF) at this University. The University of Alicante (UA) was created in 1979. Today it educates and trains more than 20.000 national and 3.000 international students and offers 43 undergraduate and 80 postgraduate programmes: consequently it is proportionally one of the fastest growing universities in Spain. Thus, the UA employs over 3.500 researchers and management staff (44%women), which involves an annual budget of 200 million Euros. Currently, UA is investing near to 34M Euros for boosting frontier research and technology transfer processes via spin off, licensing and international promotion mainly.

UA is a young and dynamic university with vast experience in implementing EU funded projects in different programmes and areas, with presence in more than 60 countries worldwide. In the last 10 years, UA has successfully acted as coordinator of many Tempus, Alfa, Edulink projects involving Third Countries and Erasmus+ and Research Framework Programmes.

The Gender Studies Research Centre at the University of Alicante (UA) is an academic centre devoted to promoting, supporting and coordinating scientific and technical research in Women’s and Gender Studies. The main aims of the Gender Studies Research Centre are:

1. To propose and develop scientific and technical research programmes.

2. To coordinate initiatives already underway and encourage new interdisciplinary research.

3. To foster collaboration and the creation of research teams.

4. To promote individual research through the grants and scholarships.

5. To establish scientific cooperation with national, European and international Centres for Women’s and Gender Studies.

6. To disseminate and transfer research findings through its publications: the journal Feminismo/sand the collection of monographs Lilith.

The Gender Studies Research Centre at the University of Alicante is developing a Inter-University PhD Program in Gender Studies, together to five more Universities

Project description:

The Public Health Research Team in which the researcher Marie Curie he would be received is composed by 19 professors/researchers from the University of Alicante and 16 external researchers working in Universities of Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Norway. The research lines have focused in the following areas:

• Occupational Health
• Health and Gender
• Gender Violence
• Cooperation in International Health
• Health promotion and education
• Nutrition and Public Health

The reference members are well-known in public health arena in Spain and in international forums: Carlos Álvarez-Dardet, Elena Ronda Perez, Maria del Carmen Vives-Cases, Diana Gil-Gonzalez and Maria Teresa Ruiz-Cantero. The Public Health Team usually is in the top ten of 200 Teams at the University of Alicante in number of papers published and communications to Congress, both national and international.
