Description of Hosting Institution (UJA – Spain)

Jaén University (UJA) was created in 1993 and is in the Top 50 of the world’s best young universities according to THE (Times Higher Education). This ranking analyzes aspects such as teaching, research work, the university’s international outreach, or integration into industry. Besides, the UJA has received the distinction of Campus of International Excellence in the fields of Agrifood (CEIA3) and Climate Change (CamBio), plus it also leads the Andalusian CEI project on historical heritage PatrimoniUN10.

Jaén University has five faculties (Social and Legal Sciences; Humanities and Education Sciences; Health Sciences; Experimental Sciences and Social Work) and two higher polytechnic schools for engineering (Linares and Jaén). In turn, these centers are organized into 35 departments. It also has three Postgraduate educational centers (Doctorate School, Advanced Study Center in Modern Languages and Postgraduate Study Center).

In regards to its research, there are five specialized centers at Jaén University. The RFIDUJA Group (Identificación por Radio Frecuencia en la Universidad de Jaén, TIC 215) is involved in research and teaching in the fields of Electronics, Computer Science, Biology, Health,…. This group was founded in 2008. The research activities carried out by the group include, work in the olive oil´s sector and in the Hospital (health).

We are interested in the employment the technology to change the way of working (with a different point of view, and therefore trying to do the work of an original way). In this group there are researchers of the fields Electronic, Biology, Computer Science and of other matters, since we all need each other’s.

Members of RIFUJA Group are authors of numerous Patents (8) in these research fields, papers in journals included in the Journal Citation Report (JCR), papers in the proceedings of prestigious International Conference.

Project description

We want to work in the area of olive oil sector using new technologies to improve the patents that we have (and personalize it) for every machine in the industrial process of getting a high level quality of olive oil.
