Founded in 1991, the University of Potsdam has firmly established itself in the scientific landscape and has become an outstanding economic factor and development engine for the region. Around 22,000 students and 3,000 employees work at three locations - Am Neuen Palais, Griebnitzsee and Golm - at one of the most beautifully situated academic institutions in Germany.

The Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Potsdam invites applications for the following position to be filled as soon as possible:

Junior Professorship (W 1) for Quantitative Economics

This professorship (without tenure track) will deal with quantitative methods of economics in research and teaching on a theoretical and/or applied level, in particular with methods that contribute to the economic analysis of economic policy issues, e.g. empirical methods or quantitative-theoretical models.

Further prerequisites are the ability and willingness to help shape the new master's program in "Economic Policy and Quantitative Methods" (EPQM), to contribute to quantitative training in our bachelor's programs ("Economics" and "Politics and Economics"), and to be involved in the doctoral program of the "Berlin School of Economics" (BSE) and the activities of the "Center for Economic Policy Analysis" (CEPA).

The University of Potsdam is a member of the "Berlin School of Economics" (BSE, https://berlinschoolofeconomics.de/home) and has interdisciplinary and inter-institutional research facilities with the "Potsdam Center for Quantitative Research" (PCQR, https://www.uni-potsdam.de/pcqr/) and the "Center for Economic Policy Analysis" (CEPA, https://www.uni-potsdam.de/cepa/).

The hiring process is subject to the requirements set forth in Section 45 of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG). The appointment procedure is conducted in accordance with Section 40 BbgHG. The professorship is limited to a maximum of six years including a probationary period, in accordance with Section 46 subsection 1 BbgHG.

Candidates who fulfill the hiring requirements for a university professorship in accordance with Section 41 subsection 1 no. 4a cannot be considered in this selection process.
