Funding Programmes for Female Researchers

UNESCO-L'ORÉAL International Fellowships for Women with Children

The German UNESCO Commission and L'Oréal Germany, in partnership with the Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard Foundation, annually grant three fellowships valued at 20,000 euro each to promote excellent women in German research. Sponsorship is open to women of all nationalities from the experimental natural sciences who are working at German universities and research institutes as post-doctoral Researchers

Federation and Federal State Programme for Female Professors (in German)

Based on German universities' forward-looking concepts for gender equality, kick-off funding has been made available for the initial appointment of women to tenured W2 or W3 professorships. The appointment may be made in respect of a position becoming vacant or to be created in future (early appointment) or of a position which is already vacant (regular appointment). Over a maximum period of 5 years, up to 3 initial appointments per university may be funded. The programme has been extended three times and is currently set to run until the end of 2030 (as of December 2022).

Landeszentrum für Gleichstellung und Vereinbarkeit in M-V (In German)

As part of a nationwide project “Career paths for women in academia and business M-V” a database has been set up at the University of Greifswald specifically targeting women in academia. The database is designed to provide young female academics with comprehensive information on fellowships for women, awards, competitions, mentoring, networks and financial support

Events providing information for female researchers, sponsorship opportunities in the entire EU Framework Programme, reviewing projects in the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme and calls for proposals in the field of Women's and Gender Studies

The European Platform of Women Scientists

Podium for gender equality designed to help women scientists share experiences and network more efficiently at European level and to involve them more actively in research policy developments.

AcademiaNet

This internet portal for excellent female scientists, maintained by the Robert Bosch Foundation and the publisher Spektrum der Wissenschaft, offers an overview of outstanding female academics of all disciplines nominated by the partner organisations involved in the project.

FemConsult (in German)

This database for female researchers facilitates the search for qualified female researchers and experts (professors, associate professors, post-doctoral researchers as well as researchers in leadership positions in science and research). It seeks to raise the proportion of women appointed to these positions.
