Offer Description
A call for application is now open for the attribution of 1 (one) Postdoctoral Research Fellowship for development of scientific and technological research activities, under the scheme “Agendas Mobilizadoras para a Inovação Empresarial”, namely “DRIVOLUTION – Transition to the factory of the future”, funded by the “PRR - Recovery and Resilience Plan and by the NextGenerationEU”, through the scheme “Agendas para a Inovação Empresarial”, with the following conditions:
Scientific area: Electrical Engineering.
Objectives: Develop and promote a collaborative fault-tolerance approach that integrates different Internet of Things nodes by incorporating innovative fault tolerance techniques for signal acquisition, conditioning and processing systems, aiming at digitalization and Industry 5.0.
Work plan:
i) Define a cyber-physical system architecture that integrates the Internet of Things with fault tolerance techniques;
ii) Study different approaches for collaboration between Internet of Things nodes to improve the capacity for detection, diagnosis and recovery from failures;
iii) Develop a framework to improve the parameters of interaction and information Exchange between Internet of Things nodes to improve the resilience and robustness of cyber-physical systems;
iv) Integrate the developed approach into a testing and experimentation setup;
The selected candidate should collaborate in writing technical reports and scientific publications.
Local of work: Laboratório Investigação e Inovação do CeDRI (Centro de Investigação em Digitalização e Robótica Inteligente) do Instituto Politécnico de Bragança.

The scholarship will initially last for 12 months, starting on 21/07/2025 (with the possibility of renewal for up to a maximum of 24 months, including the initial period).

Candidates must have a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, or related scientific areas, obtained less than three years ago.
Candidates should have experience in Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical Systems, and Fault Tolerance, and relevant scientific publications in indexed journals and conferences (Web of Science and Scopus). Mastery of the English language (written and oral communication) will also be valued.

Additional Information
The scholarship amount corresponds to €1.851,00, according to the table of scholarships awarded by the FCT, I.P. in the country.
The scholarship holder will benefit from a personal accident insurance and, if not covered by any social protection scheme, can ensure the exercise of the right to social security by joining the voluntary social insurance scheme, pursuant to the Code of Contribution Regimes of the Social Security Social Security System. The scholarship amount will be paid monthly by bank transfer.
Candidates must have a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, or related scientific areas, obtained less than three years ago.
The selection methods to be used will be the following:
a) Academic habilitations (40%);
b) Scientific curriculum, considering publications and participation in R&D projects (20%).
c) Experience, according to the desired profile (40%);
The Jury may call the candidates for an interview to clarify different aspects of the CV regarding a better evaluation of the criteria defined in Selection Methods. The jury may not award the scholarship if the candidates' classification is lower than 9.5 points.
If the decision to be taken is unfavorable to the granting of the requested scholarship, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the date of publication of the evaluation results, to express their opinion, if desired, in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Code of the Administrative Procedure.
An appeal may be filed against the final decision to the President of the IPB within 15 working days after the respective notification.
Documents proving the ownership of academic degrees or diplomas, or enrollment in an academic degree or diploma, may be dispensed with during the application stage, being replaced by a declaration of honor by the candidate, and verification of this condition is mandatory during the grant contracting stage.
Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require recognition by a Portuguese Institution in accordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of January 25th. The presentation of recognition is mandatory for the signing of the contract.
