Offer Description
In the context of the ANR project ORGANIST (ORGANIc / Silicon 3-terminal Tandem solar cells), we require a postdoctoral researcher for a period of 18 months. The aim of the ORGANIST project is the fabrication of three terminal tandem solar cells consisting of an OSC (organic solar cell) and an IBC (silicon interdigitated back contact solar cell), with tandem efficiencies > 33% using low cost industry compatible processes. A major activity in this project will be the integration of the OSC on the IBC. To these ends, the successful candidate will be responsible for the study of Si surface treatments (dry process), as well as the deposition of interface layers on Si, carried out at the LPICM. They will contribute to advanced characterisation at LPICM and at GeePs within the WP3 work package "interface optimisation between silicon bottom cell and organic top cell". The research will be carried out in close collaboration with the doctoral student hired at the IMS in the context of WP4 "4T organic/Si tandem fabrication".

The candidate must hold a doctorate in physics or physico-chemistry, preferably in the field of photovoltaics or organic electronics, with knowledge of semiconductors and devices, and an experience in the fabrication of thin films, and electrical characterisation of photovoltaic solar cells.
The successful candidate will collaborate on the one hand with Pere Roca Cabaroccas at LPICM on Si surface treatments using dry processes, and on the development of interface layers. They will work on the other hand with José Alvarez and Jean-Paul Kleider at GeePs on electronic characterisation of test structures and three terminal tandem solar cells, including notably the electrical characterisation of the subcells of which the tandem is composed. The candidate will interact with colleagues at IMS, in particular with the doctoral candidate hired by the project working within WP4 (IMS), and more specifically within the context of exchanges of devices or the fabrication of samples for specific characterisation techniques such as Kelvin probe, surface photovoltage, and XPS/UPS/IPES spectroscopies, and admittance spectroscopy. They will collaborate with the modelling team on numerical simulation using TCAD software in order to analyse device performance.
The GeePs and LPICM laboratories are two CNRS joint research centres situated on the plateau de Saclay in the campus of CentraleSupélec and the École Polytechnique, within a few minutes travel distance of each other. The successful candidate will be hired under a CentraleSupélec contract, and will work at both laboratories, where they will have access to the infrastructure necessary for thin film deposition and opto- electronic and structural characterisation.

Additional Information
The position will be under a CentraleSupélec work contract, which is financed by the French research agency Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR).
Candidates are invited to send an application consisting of a (1) curriculum vitae and (2) a letter of motivation to the contact email james.connolly@centralesupelec.fr
Interviews will be arranged upon reception of applications.
Though the contract is due to start in January 2025 due to the timeline of the ORGANIST project, some flexibility is possible until the end of winter 2025.
