The Faculty of Sport Science seeks to fill the following professorship from 1 March 2021:
W3 Professorship in Sports Medicine
We are looking for a dedicated individual with internationally recognised research achievements who can represent the entire field of sports medicine in research, teaching as well as in practice.
The new professor will be responsible for teaching sports medicine at the bachelor’s and master’s levels and in teacher training. Applicants must hold a PhD. A completed full specialisation in a clinical discipline is expected and the additional subspecialism “sports medicine” (or an international equivalent) is mandatory.
A high commitment to research, teaching and further education is required. Interdisciplinary cooperation within the Faculty of Sport Science as well as outside the Faculty – and especially with the Faculty of Medicine – is expected. The focus in research and practice should be on competitive sports and/or preventive or rehabilitative medicine.
There should be a focus on internal sports medicine and exercise physiology. The applicant should be able to contribute to Leipzig University’s research profile areas.
The job holder’s rights and obligations are regulated by the Saxon Freedom of Higher Education Act (SächsHSFG) and the Saxon Service Regulations for Higher Education Institutions (DAVOHS). Applicants must meet the requirements of Sect. 58 SächsHSFG.

Personal data storage period:
The duration of the storage of personal data is governed by Sect. 11(4) of the Saxon Data Protection Implementation Act (SächsDSDG). This stipulates that data collected prior to the commencement of a service or employment relationship must be erased without undue delay as soon as it is established that a service or employment relationship will not be established. This does not apply if there is reason to believe that the erasure would harm the legitimate interests of the data subject. The provision of personal data is necessary to ensure the legality of the planned selection process.
