How to Find Your Ideal Academic Supervision

Normally, it is up to the researcher to find a suitable host institute and host researcher. You know best what your particular research interests are and can judge which research institutions and researchers in Germany work in similar fields. In Germany, it is common practice to contact researchers by letter and e-mail, even though you may not know them personally, and ask if they would be interested in cooperating.

Research Map

The Research Map developed by the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) details the key research priorities of higher education institutions. The Research Map allows you to search for the research areas that are of strategic institutional importance for each institution. The research areas can be searched by subject area and by region.

GERiT – German Research Institutions

The information portal GERiT offered by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) provides an overview of 25,000 research institutions in Germany.

GEPRIS

GEPRIS (German Project Information System) is an online database made available by the German Research Foundation (DFG] to provide information on current DFG-funded research projects. Please note that to date, project information is available mainly in the German language.
