Job description:

Reference No. FG 2020/9

The Institute Methods and Instrumentation for Synchrotron Radiation Research is looking for

Postdoc Scientist (f/m/d) for theoretical soft X-ray spectroscopy and non-equilibrium of matter

Tasks

  • Theoretical soft X-ray spectroscopy based on numerical simulations and first principles approaches to deduce physical and chemical properties of functional materials and molecular systems in non-equilibrium and their dynamics as seen from experimental soft X-ray methods
  • Operation, improvement and development theoretical tools for soft X-ray spectroscopy crucial to the FG-ISRR research goals within Helmholtz POF
  • Collaborative work and support of PhD students and students at all levels of education
  • Communication of results through publication and conference participation

Requirements

  • PhD and Postdoctoral expertise in theoretical soft X-ray spectroscopy related to synchrotron radiation research for molecular systems and functional materials
  • Proficiency in the operation, improvement and development of theoretical tools for soft X-ray spectroscopy to interprete complex synchrotron radiation experiments. Excellent capabilities in the numerical simulation and interpretation of experiments with X-ray spectroscopy based on approximative and first principles approaches.
  • Very good capabilities in the use of modern analytic tools and the simulation of X-ray spectra
  • Fluent knowledge of English is required. A willingness to acquire basic skills in German are appreciated
