The Institute for the Cultural and Intellectual History of Asia (IKGA) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences is offering a
Post Doc Position (f/m)
(full time, 40h per week)
with focus on Buddhist Transmission in China
Starting date is June 1, 2019.
In addition to conducting their own research on the transmission of Buddhism in China using historical-philological methods, the successful applicant is expected to collaborate in editorial projects within the institute’s long-term focus “Sanskrit texts from Tibet”. Small administrative duties may also occur.
A PhD in Buddhist Studies, Chinese Studies or a related field is required. Familiarity with one or more languages of the transmission of Indian Buddhism is expected; familiarity with classical Tibetan is desired.
We offer 100% employment (40 hours per week) for an annual gross salary of € 42,551.60 (= level IV/2 according to the employment scale of the Austrian Academy of Sciences). Depending on qualification and experience, the salary can be negotiated.
The position is initially limited to a period of 3 years.
