OFFER DESCRIPTION

A tender is hereby opened for the award of one Research Grant (RG) in the scope of R&D projects "TANDEM+: Transformation, Acceleration, Networking, Development, Entrepreneurial education and Mentoring+", under the following conditions:

Scientific Area: Mechanical Engineering; Environmental Engineering and other Engineering in related areas; Education, Social Sciences and related areas.

Funding Source: the European Commission under the EIT HEI Initiative - Innovation Capacity Building for Higher Education.

Work plan: In the scope of the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT), namely the Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) of Urban Mobility, the HEI Initiative - Innovation Capacity Building for Higher Education aims to support European higher education institutions to promote their mission and strategy of innovation and entrepreneurial attitude, giving them access to the innovation ecosystem of the EIT.

The main objective of this work, included in the tasks of the TANDEM+ project, will be to support the development and implementation of training programs for higher education faculty, researchers and staff, programs that promote entrepreneurial education, as well as through mentoring and coaching programs for faculty, students and staff during the training period.

The grantee’s work will be related to the support to the development and evaluation of training programs and support to curricular innovation based on entrepreneurial education, and to the evaluation and development of competencies related to entrepreneurship, innovation, interdisciplinarity and internationalization in higher education.

Workplace: The work will be developed at Centro de Tecnologia Mecânica e Automação, Departamento de Engenharia Mecânica da Universidade de Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Dr. Bárbara Coelho Gabriel and Dr. Cláudia Figueiredo.

Duration of the grant(s): The grant duration will be 10 months, starting in September of 2022, and may be renewed for up to the maximum limit of approved funding. Under no circumstances shall it exceed the limits defined in nos. 3 and 4 of article 6, of Regulation no. 950/2019, of November 29th, published in Diário da República, no. 241, Series II, of December 16th (Research Grants Regulation of FCT, I.P.).

Deadline for applications and how to submit applications: The call is open from July 1st to July 15th, 2022, and only applications submitted within the deadline will be admitted.

Benefits

Amount of monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the grant corresponds to € 1.144.64, according to the table of monthly maintenance allowance amounts set out in Annex I of Regulation no. 950/2019, subject to any updates that may be applicable, under the terms of no. 2 of article 18 of Regulation no. 950/2019, of November 29th, published in Diário da República, no. 241, Series II, of December 16th (Research Grants Regulation of FCT, I.P.). The fellow may also be reimbursed for the amount corresponding to the Voluntary Social Security, in case of adherence to this plan

Applicable legislation and regulations: Statute of Scientific Research Grant Holder, as amended by Decree-Law no. 123/2019, of August 28th; Regulation no. 950/2019, of November 29th, published in Diário da República, no. 241, Series II, of December 16th (FCT, I.P. Research Grants Regulation); Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of August 16th (Legal regime for recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of higher education awarded by foreign higher education institutions).

Eligibility criteria

Selection methods: The selection methods to be used will be the following: Curricular Evaluation, where the knowledge mentioned below will be evaluated, with the respective valuation of:

  • Basic academic qualification and respective average of completion: 25%;
  • Proven knowledge in the areas of entrepreneurial education, innovation, interdisciplinarity and internationalization: 30%;
  • Fluency in the English language (written and spoken): 25%;
  • Experience in research activities within the scientific area of the application: 20%.

If necessary, an interview will be held to verify the candidates' merits. Candidates with no knowledge in the scientific area of the application will be excluded from the competition. The jury also reserves the right not to select any candidate if it considers that they do not meet the required criteria with quality.

Composition of the Selection Jury: The selection board responsible for the selection will be composed of the President, Doctor Bárbara Filipa Casqueira Coelho Gabriel, Researcher; Members: Doctor Cláudia Raquel Cordeiro Figueiredo, Researcher; and Doctor Robertt Valente, Associate Professor; Alternate Members: Professor Doctor António Gil d'Orey de Andrade Campos, Assistant Professor with Agregação and Doctor Isabel Maria Alexandrino Duarte, Assistant Researcher.

Selection process

Applications must be formalized by sending a letter of application accompanied by the following documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae, dated and signed;
  • Simple photocopy of the document proving academic qualifications;
  • Other relevant elements.

They shall also indicate the e-mail address to which by such indication they accept to be notified for all purposes within this procedure.

Applications should be submitted electronically to the address of the Scholarships Area of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Aveiro (dem.bolsas@ua.pt), until the deadline, with the reference "RG_21_DEM_TEMA_2022_TANDEM" in the subject. Additionally, candidates are requested to send scanned documents to the e-mail address of the President of the Jury, Doctor Bárbara Coelho Gabriel (barbara.gabriel@ua.pt).

Additional comments

Form of publication/notification of results: The final results of the evaluation will be published through an ordered list by final score obtained and posted in a visible and public place, posted on the University's website, within 90 working days after the final date of submission of the application, and the successful candidate will be notified by email. For the purposes of prior hearing of interested parties, the deadline of 10 working days is set, as provided for in the Code of Administrative Procedure. At the end of the period for hearing the interested parties, and in the absence of any response from them, the list of candidates will become final. Candidates may lodge a complaint against the final decision within 15 working days, or appeal to the maximum executive body of the funding entity within 30 working days after notification of the final decision, in accordance with the provisions of article 12 of the Research Grants Regulation of the Foundation for Science and Technology.

Tender duration: The final ranking list of candidates will be valid until September 30th 2022 for the purpose of constituting a reserve list for selection.

Kenntnisse/Qualifikationen

Admission Requirements: Candidates with a Master's Degree in Education; Engineering Education; Psychology; Social Sciences; Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering (or related engineering areas); with advanced knowledge of the English language and holders of a scientific and professional curriculum that reveals an adequate profile for the activities to be developed. The attribution of a research grant implies enrollment in a training cycle at the University of Aveiro (or at another Higher Education Institution), whether it confers an academic degree or not. The proof of enrolment must be made available until the contract is awarded, and the candidate may attach a declaration of honor to confirm that they meet the requirements for enrolment in an integrated master's degree, master's or doctoral program or in a course that does not confer an academic degree.

If the qualification has been conferred by a foreign higher education institution it must be recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution, under the terms of the provisions of article 25 of Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of August 16th, which approves the legal regime of recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of Higher Education, attributed by foreign higher education institutions, and of paragraph e) of no. 2 of article 4 of Decree-Law no. 60/2018, of August 3rd, and any formalities established therein must be fulfilled by the date of the hiring act.
