The International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory – INL (http://www.inl.int), is the first and only International Intergovernmental Organisation in the world entirely focused on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.

Introduction

INL is seeking a Research Engineer to support our activities in nanomaterial synthesis and coatings. The selected candidate will be working with synthesis of nanomaterials and their characterization, as well as coatings with self-healing properties.

 

Job Role & Key Responsibilities

The Research Engineer will undertake the following main activities and responsibilities:

 

  • Synthesis of nanomaterials
  • Preparation of self-healing coatings
  • Support the group in equipment handling and maintenance

 

Job Requirements

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

 

Qualifications

  • MSc Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or similar

 

Experience and Technical Skills

  • Hands-on laboratory experience with nanomaterial synthesis and characterization;
  • Experience with coatings;
  • Experience with equipment maintenance;
  • Experience in polymer chemistry is a plus;
  • Strong literature and patent searching skills;
  • Knowledge of lab safety;
  • Good track record of disseminating research results.

  • Strong motivation to work both independently and as part of a team in an interdisciplinary environment, with the ability to pay close attention to detail and to meet deadlines;
  • Team-work spirit;
  • Great communication skills;
  • “Hands-on” approach together with a high commitment in respecting working deadlines;

  • Maintain a safety mind-set and focus;

Languages

Excellent communication skills in English are required since it’s the working language of INL.

 

Supervision

The work plan will be developed at the INL under the scientific guidance of Dr. Yury Kolen’ko.

Duration of the contract

INL will offer a limited-duration employment contract with an initial appointment for 4 years that may be renewed based on the performance of the individual and duration of the project. The expected starting date is February 2021.
