OFFER DESCRIPTION

We have an opening for a three year research position starting September 1st or October 1st, 2020 for a PhD student or a researcher with already completed minimum MSc in Computer Science in the cross-section of Semantic Web and Blockchain. 

The new researcher will work on our new Horizon 2020 project OntoChain: Trusted, transparent and traceable ontological knowledge on blockchain, which is a 6 M EUR Next Generation Internet project in which the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Computer and Information Science, Slovenia performs the role of Scientific and Technical Coordinator. 

High motivation and interest in the subject area is prerequisite for this position.

In your application please include transcript of grades in the B.Sc. and M.Sc. study programmes and elaborate your software engineering skills and achievements, particularly in the context of Web app development, Full Stack, Blockchain, any experiences that you may have. It is not necessary that everything is covered, however, we just look for skillful researchers.

Prospective candidates will work with pan-European team of researchers to pave the way towards OntoChain (or Knowledge Block Forest) as a Next Generation Internet technology. The project will develop an architecture and protocols for trusted knowledge management with blockchain. 

Eligibility criteria

Outstanding study and research results are prerequisite for the positions. 

Selection process

We shall engage in lively interaction with every applicant to help define the common interests. 

A panel of 3 persons engaged with the project will make final decisions.

We reserve the right not to employ anyone in case the minimum (high) conditions for the jobs are not met.

Kenntnisse/Qualifikationen

Minimum degree which is necessary to apply for one of the two jobs is Master of Computer Science. 

Applicants that already hold PhD in the domain areas of Semantic Web, Blockchain, databases and similar are also welcome. 

Post-doc position is possible. 

Besondere Anforderungen

Any special knowledge and skills in the domains of:

- Semantic Web (e.g. ontologies, knowledge bases);

- Blockchain (e.g. Hyperledger Fabric, Ethereum);

- knowledge about computer languages and theories of computation;

- cryptography, mathematics and statistics knowledge;

- knowledge and skills in software engineering (e.g. microservices construction, container images, Kubernetes).

Please explain in detail. Attach publications. Demonstrate any important results from past work.
