OFFER DESCRIPTION

The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is a non-profit research institute based in Barcelona and dedicated to advancing our understanding about leukaemia and related disorders, in partnership with the University of Barcelona and University Autònoma of Barcelona. The IJC has laboratories in three clinical campuses: i) Clinic Hospital, ii) Sant Pau Hospital and iii) Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital. IJC serves as a collaborative hub for basic investigators and physicians to work together on fundamental biological and clinical aspects of leukaemia. The IJC offers an excellent work environment built around a multi-disciplinary fusion of ideas and state-of-the-art facilities.

 

IJC Campus ICO-GTIP (Badalona) is looking for a Junior Group Leader to create a new research group in the field of Bioinformatics.

 

 

What we need

  • PhD in Bioinformatics or similar
  • Senior Postdoctoral position experience, at least 5 years
  • Experience in the field of bioinformatics, computational biology and/or artificial intelligence: at least 3 years of experience.
  • Team leader skills.
  • Good writing and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication in English.
  • Competences: Capacities in problem-solving, prioritization, time management, commitment to research, proactivity, people management and collegiality.
  • Integrity, critical and analytical thinking.
  • Has an international reputation based on research excellence in their field;
  • Demonstrates critical judgment in the identification and execution of research activities;
  • Makes a substantial contribution (breakthroughs) to their research field or spanning multiple areas;
  • Develops a strategic vision on the future of the research field.
  • Recognizes the broader implications and applications of their research;
  • Publishes and presents influential papers and books, serves on workshop and conference organizing committees and delivers invited talks.

 

 

Main responsibilities

As Junior Group Leader, you will be responsible:

  • Leading a new Research Group in the field of Bioinformatics and/or Biocomputational.
  • Responsible for one or more research areas of research.
  • Being reference and representation of IJCs development.
  • Translate and transfer with hospitals and companies.
  • Founding management.
  • Networking: identify possible collaborators, collaboration in different forums, external and internal relations.
  • External evaluations (Tribunal, projects, journals, committees, thesis, recruitment panels).
  • Has an international reputation based on research excellence in their field;
  • Demonstrates critical judgment in the identification and execution of research activities;
  • Makes a substantial contribution (breakthroughs) to their research field or spanning multiple areas;
  • Develops a strategic vision on the future of the research field
  • Recognizes the broader implications and applications of their research;
  • Publishes and presents influential papers and books, serves on workshop and conference organizing committees and delivers invited talks.
