A postdoc position is now available for a highly motivated fellow with a strong interest in cellular and molecular immunology at mucosal barriers. We are looking for a candidate passionate about science. He/she will join a young and dynamic team led by Dr. Caspar Ohnmacht at the Center of Allergy & Environment (ZAUM) in Munich/Germany. The research group is primarily interested in the interaction between the intestinal microbiota and the host immune system. Particularly, we are studying how immunological tolerance at barrier sites is established (Ohnmacht et al., Science 2015, Trends Immunol. 2016). We aim to identify both underlying genetic pathways on the host side and microbial signatures enforcing this symbiosis on the microbiome side. The position offers the opportunity to develop and follow own scientific ideas (within the overall scope of the research group) and various collaboration opportunities. Funding is secured by an ERC starting grant and national funding but candidates will be encouraged to apply for fellowships.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry or related disciplines. Profound knowledge in cellular immunology and in vivo murine disease and/or infection models are required. We expect the ability to work both in a team as well as independently with a high degree of self-motivation. Appointment will be for 2 years with the possibility for extension. Salary will be according to the German TV-L system (E13).

The Helmholtz Center Munich is an Equal Opportunity Employer and has an affirmative action policy for disabled persons.

A scientific vision letter (no more than one page), CV and letters of recommendation should be sent (as one compiled pdf) via email to
