About

Outline

With the aim of promoting science and innovation and to encourage research in highly talented young students, the Computer Vision Center hosts the Computer Vision Center Internship Program. It is addressed to students, ideally during the last year of their undergraduate studies. The CVC offers these students a research environment that will constitute their first exposure to a research challenge.

Undergraduate students worldwide with excellent academic record are invited to apply for an internship at the CVC. The interns will be guided by CVC researchers, and will work in a research project designed to acquire skills in the latest trends in computer vision. Complementary mentoring activities will be provided to allow students to broaden their education and research training.

What is funded

The internships are offered for a period of 3 months full time dedication and are non-renewable. Exceptionally, longer internships may be considered, and it will be negotiated during the selection process.

Selected candidates will receive the following stipend:

  • All accepted candidates: a stipend of 2.000 euros.
  • If the candidate is not from Barcelona, the CVC will help with the transportation and accommodation expenses up to a maximum of 2000 euros. If tickets and accommodation exceed this amount, the student will have to bear the additional cost (this can be deducted from the stipend).

The CVC will not cover additional expenses such as visa applications for non-EU citizens, insurance, etc.

Participation in the Computer Vision Center Internship Program does not imply any contractual relationship between the beneficiary and the CVC. If the student, for any reason, voluntarily withdraws or interrupts the program, any unduly received payments must be returned.

Duration

A 3-month internship at the CVC during 2020

Eligibility

The program is addressed to outstanding students, ideally within the last year of their undegraduate studies. Eligible areas include, but are not restricted to: Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics. As a general rule, we expect applicants to fulfill the following requirements:

  • To be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate-level university program (master), or alternatively, to have graduated recently.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Programming skills including C++, Python, and Deep Learning frameworks (Pytorch, Tensor Flow…).
  • Additional skills will be also required for each specific project.

Selection of interns is based on merit and potential, measured in terms of academic records and personal achievements. Proactive attitudes, participation in community activities, and capacity for team-work are also taken into account.

Because of funding regulations, this program is mostly oriented to EU citizens, however outstanding applicants from other nationalities will also be considered.
